About the event
The median amount of time teachers devote to climate change is just 1.5 class hours per school year. Among teachers of all subjects, fewer than half say they’ve ever addressed the issue.
Since 2017, the National Wildlife Federation in New York City and partners have been delivering the Resilient Schools Consortium (RiSC) - a climate and resilience education program and curriculum that is empowering middle and high school students to help create more climate resilient communities.
Join the National Wildlife Federation in New York City for a Facebook Live event for Climate Week 2021: Enjoy the screening of a short film, “It’s Our Future,” about the RiSC program; then meet Sarah Slack and Tim Hitchcock – NYC middle school teachers featured in the film, Mahdiya Siddiqui - a NYC high school student, and Elissa Teles Munoz - a college senior, for a stimulating conversation – from both a student and a teacher’s perspective - about the urgent need for climate and resilience education in our schools.
